Well here it is, the OF CH-53 fuse from Starwood. This thing is LONG, something like 74". With the OF blades made just for this helicopter the rotor disk is 2M! AND there is 6 of them! This is going to be cool.

Ya, I was thinking of giving up my room and sleeping in the hallway!

This is the look I'm going for.

Vario Benzin mechanics. The motor I have is the old G23 so I'm going to replace it with a RC260 or a GP290, haven't decided yet.

I started carving the piece for the nose. I need to find the right size tube to make the refueling probe out of. When it's done I'll glass it on the front of the fuselage.

I had not planned on it, but it might make it safer to transport. I'll have to think about that, thanks copterdoctor.

Here is a shot of the OF 6 blade head with the scale blades they make for the CH-53. Makes my Raptor look small! :M

Looks like it's going to be a real cotender!! Keep up the pace and don't let it fall by the side .. it's easy to loose interest in such a big project but, with a bunch of guys like us around I don't think that will happen :) Your work so far is looking top notch!! And you were worried about it when you picked it up in Vegas B)

I got some of the woodwork built. Laying out everything is quite alot of work. Makes one thankful for the Vario kits with the precut woodwork. But desining all the stucture is fun. Hopefully everything will line up and work!

Awesome project!
while I dont fly heli's (yet) Ive always liked the idea of starting a project like this, didnt think anyone ever looked into this heli (CH or MH, whichever you preffer). I was on active duty for 8 yrs, navy, and when one of these bad boys used to land you could hear it no matter where you were on the ship. they're friggin HUGE (personally never seen the pave low, but its counterpart the CH-53 Sea and Super stallions many times). Definitely keep us posted on how things come along

The opening on top of the fuse is only about 5 in. wide. It's hard to fit my Benzin mechanics without the muffler and servos, let alone with all the suff hanging off it.
So I made a new hatch in the top to get every thing in and out easier.

The stock landing gear struts didn't look that good so I made new ones. It started as a Robart Robostrut.
