Hi Butch

I'll be very interested to see how the build goes, I got mine as a part finished project from someone else so all the dirty work was done, I just had to spray it and tidy up a few things, flies great, like a bat out of hell on a RC230 gass engine.

PS I know someone building one too, 60 engine way too small.

Lee, you would be correct. It is a Vario fan assembly. I still have alot of work to do in the area of the fan. The clearance between the blade tips and fan shroud needs to be tightened up just not sure yet of the best way to make that happen. I have read all the post on speed up gears and servos but if any of you guys have thoughts feel free to fire them off.

Thanks,

Butch

P.S. You avitar is wonderful

Would the correct thickness layer of sheet styrene work for decreasing the gap?

Heli_Jack,

I guess you are talking about the clerance on the tail blades. When This started it was 5mm. I used 1/32 ply, 10mm wide to close the gap just in the area where the tips travel. The plys made a step which allowed me to taper the inlet and outlet of the shroud making it like a venturi with the choke point at the center of the blade tip path. The .7mm is before paint. I am hoping the finished clerance is around .3 to .5mm.

i have flown my 66 using a 60 with 5 bladed head, its not that bad the head runs at 1300.the real problem is the tail....which i have now upped the gearing to 16-22 i havnt flown it yet as the weather in the UK is what one would say is less than ideal
